Afromosia Live-Edge Dining Table
Solid Afromosia live-edge slab with solid timber U-frame legs — built for a private residence in Ridge, Accra for French expatriates on posting in Ghana.
The Commission
A Statement Table for a Considered Home
French expatriates on posting in Ghana commissioned a centrepiece dining table for their residence in Ridge, Accra. The brief was clear: a live-edge solid hardwood table that felt like it belonged to this part of the world — something that couldn't be sourced from a furniture shop.
The client selected Afromosia — a premium West African hardwood prized for its natural durability, fine grain, and warm honey tone — and brought the commission to Neewoody. The table was designed, built, and finished entirely at the Neewoody workshop before delivery and installation at the Ridge residence.
The result: a live-edge slab top with the natural edge preserved and finished, seated on a pair of solid timber U-frame legs — simple in form, precise in execution.

Afromosia — Pericopsis elata
Afromosia is a premium West African hardwood grown across Ghana, Côte d'Ivoire, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Often described as a teak alternative, it shares teak's natural oil content and weather resistance but has a finer, tighter grain and a lighter, more honey-warm colour.
It is one of the most durable cabinet and furniture timbers available in West Africa — stable, resistant to warping, and finishes exceptionally well. The live-edge character preserved in this commission captures the natural silhouette of the slab as it came from the log.
