Built to last. Built to be passed on.

Most furniture in Accra is particle board with a laminate surface — functional, affordable, but with a lifespan measured in years rather than decades. Solid wood is different. A well-built solid wood table or bed frame doesn't just survive daily use — it develops character over time, can be sanded and refinished, and holds its structural integrity for generations.

We work with locally sourced and imported timber depending on the piece and the client's brief — sapele, teak, mahogany, iroko, Guarea, afromosia, and others on request. Every piece is jointed, not just screwed, and finished for the humidity and temperature of the Accra climate.

Solid wood commissions take longer than laminate-based work — timber needs to be selected, dried properly, jointed, and finished in stages. Lead times are typically 4–8 weeks. If you're working to a deadline, tell us early.

Khaya ivorensis · African mahogany

Khaya in the Bathroom — Spintex, New York Commission.

African mahogany — Khaya — carries a deep reddish-brown tone, a fine interlocked grain, and the stability to hold its own in a humid bathroom. Here it leaves the dining room and goes to work as a set of carved-door vanities.

Khaya / African mahogany double-sink bathroom vanity with carved doors — Spintex estate, Accra, built by Neewoody Custom Woodwork

A New York-based homeowner commissioned this set directly — five carved-door vanity pieces for a unit in a Spintex estate development, installed under the developer's supervision ahead of the owner's arrival. One larger vanity for the master bedroom, three smaller carved-door vanities, and a simpler floating shelf vanity for the powder room.

Each carved door is cut and shaped by hand from solid Khaya — Ghana's celebrated mahogany hardwood — no two grain patterns alike. The design carries the same sculptural relief across every piece, giving the bathrooms a consistent identity throughout the unit.

Built and finished in our Accra workshop, then shipped to site for installation — proof that custom Ghanaian hardwood furniture travels well, even when the client never sets foot in the workshop themselves.

Solid wood takes longer. That's part of the point. We select the timber, dry it properly, joint it, and finish it in stages — because the result is furniture that belongs to your home for decades, not years.

Let's talk about your project.

Solid wood commissions start with a conversation about the piece, the timber, and the space it's going into. Even a rough idea is enough to get started.
